Test Planning & Equipment Preparation
The testing sequence is coordinated with the approved plans, piping materials, and local inspection requirements. Suitable equipment and closures are prepared before each system is isolated for its test.
Follow the checks that accompany a complete plumbing installation. Ten illustrated stages cover exposed-piping tests, finished-fixture operation, and preparation for the final inspection in a luxury home.

The testing sequence is coordinated with the approved plans, piping materials, and local inspection requirements. Suitable equipment and closures are prepared before each system is isolated for its test.
A water-filled test pump and connected gauge illustrate hydrostatic testing of an isolated copper supply branch. The piping is observed under the required test conditions while its accessible connections remain exposed.
Accessible joints, fittings, and test closures are inspected for visible seepage during the testing process. Close visual checks help locate connections that need attention before the work is concealed.
Drainage piping is prepared for water testing with appropriate closures and an accessible test arrangement. The test height, section boundaries, and closures are verified before the system is filled and observed.
The exposed installation is reviewed at the required rough stage, when piping, supports, and connections can still be seen. Testing, required protection, and any corrections are coordinated before walls or other finishes cover the work.
After fixture installation, water flow and drainage are observed under normal operation. Accessible supply connectors, shutoff valves, and drain joints are checked while water runs through the basin.
The shower outlet temperature is checked with a contact probe in collected flowing water. The selected protective control is adjusted and checked according to its instructions and the applicable requirements.
The dishwasher installation is reviewed for its drain air gap and serviceable connections. The appliance is then operated through the appropriate checks, with the drainage route and accessible joints observed during discharge.
The installed toilet is checked through flushing and refill, with attention to normal operation and accessible connections. The supply connection, fixture stability, and surrounding floor are also reviewed for signs of leakage.
With the fixtures connected and operating, the completed work is made ready for the final inspection. Project information is available, service points remain accessible, and any remaining items are addressed with the local authority.
